LHASA, July 25 (Xinhuanet) -- Yang Chuantang,
deputy secretary of the Tibet Autonomous Regional Committee
of the Communist Party of China, met here Friday with
Sitaram Yechury, member of the Political Bureau of the
Communist Party of India (Marxist). Yang
said China and India are both countries with ancient
civilizations, and their traditional friendship has been
rejuvenated by the exchanges of high-level visits in recent
years.
The declaration on
principles for relations and comprehensive cooperation
between China and India signed during Indian Prime Minister
Atal Bihari Vajpayee's China visit this June marked a new
phase of overall development in bilateral relations, Yang
said.
He said more and more
Indians are coming to Tibet for sightseeing or business,
which will greatly enhance the mutual understanding between
the two sides.
Yechury said
the two peoples boast a deep-rooted traditional friendship,
and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) attaches great
importance to the friendly contacts with the CPC, and the
party will work with all Indian communities to promote
bilateral friendship.
He
expressed admiration of the region's rapid development.
Yechury said his party will
work with the Chinese side to explore new ways and new
fields for economic cooperation and personnel exchanges
between the two countries. Enditem
