Tibet's 50th Anniversary of Peaceful Liberation

Fifty years ago on May 23, the central government
and the local Tibetan authorities signed the Agreement on
Method for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet, known as
"17-Point Agreement." The agreement marks a
turning point in Tibetan history. Over the past five
decades, the region has seen a rapid economic progress,
social stability and unity. Tibetan people are enjoying a
much better life.
