Speech by Mr. Li Qiangmin at the China Film Festival
2002-01-21

Excellencies,
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen:
Today I am honoured and pleased to attend this event of the China Film Festival and the photo exhibitions “The Image of Beijing” as well as “The Chinese Farmers Painting” which are jointly organized by the Embassy of China and the Tel Aviv Cinematheque, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between China and Israel. On behalf of the staff members of the Chinese Embassy, I would like to extend my sincere wishes and warm congratulations.
Since the normalization of the diplomatic relations between China and Israel ten years ago, the development of our bilateral relations in various fields has made great progress. The political relations and exchange of visits by the state leaders have been intensified. The friendly cooperation in the scopes of economy, agriculture, science and technology has been upsurged. Particularly, the cultural exchanges and cooperation between our two countries have been enhanced over the past decade.
The photos were shot and the exhibition was initiated by the renowned Israeli photographer, Mr. Duby Tal. It is our sincere hope that the Israeli friends will maintain a better recognition and understanding of the Chinese culture through this film show, the focus of Mr. Duby Tal and the Chinese Farmers’ Paintings so as to explore the greater potentialities in many other fields in the interests and benefits of both of our countries. I am convinced that the relations between our two countries will be further promoted and strengthened in the years to come.
I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Cinematheques in Tel Aviv, Jerusalem and Haifa and Mr. Duby Tal for their painstaking efforts in organizing such significant events.
I wish all of you enjoy the film and the Chinese Film Festival a great success!
Thank you all.
