On the afternoon of June 22, 2005, Chairman Wu Bangguo of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) met with Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan of ROK at the Great Hall of the People. Wu Bangguo said that it is an important part of our neighboring diplomacy to push forward the comprehensive development of China-ROK relations. We are willing to work together with the Korean side to constantly advance the sustained, healthy and stable growth of the comprehensive cooperative partnership between the two countries. The NPC of China attaches importance to developing relationship with the parliament of ROK and welcomes and supports the friendly contacts between special committees, friendship groups and members of the parliaments of both sides. We are willing to strengthen the communication with the Korean side in the field of legislation and supervision, learn and draw lessons from each other. At the same time, we hope to enhance our coordination and cooperation among international and regional parliamentary organizations and further consolidate the public opinion basis of friendly cooperation so as to inject new vitality into the development of China-ROK comprehensive cooperative partnership. Wu introduced to the guests the economic and social development, the concept of scientific development and the construction of harmonious society of China. Lee Hae-chan noted that the achievements of China's modernization have attracted the attention of the world. The concept of scientific development raised by the Chinese government is of great vision and will make the development of China more comprehensive and harmonious. It will certainly provide more opportunities for the friendly cooperation between China and ROK and a wider stage for Korean enterprises in China. The guest and the host also exchanged views on issues of common concern such as regional situation. |
