On June 2, 2005, Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing, who is attending the 4th Informal Foreign Ministers' Meeting of China, Russia and India in Vladivostok - a city in the Far East of Russia, met with his Indian counterpart Singh. Both sides exchanged in-depth views on China-India relationship and international and regional issues of common concern. Li Zhaoxing said that China-India relations have made major headways this year. Both sides declared the establishment of the strategic cooperative partnership for peace and prosperity between China and India, which is in the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples and conducive to promoting the peace and stability of the region and the world. The Chinese side is willing to work together with the Indian side to take follow-up actions to implement the achievements made by the leaders during their visits, expand the mutually beneficial cooperation in such fields as politics, economy, trade, culture, education, science, and technology, strengthen the exchanges of personnel and continue the negotiations on the boundary issues between the two countries. Singh expressed complete agreements with the comments made by the Chinese side on bilateral relations. Declaring the establishment of the strategic cooperative partnership by China and India has driven the relations between the two countries into a new era of comprehensive development and greatly advanced the cooperation process in all fields between the two countries. The Indian side is fully confident in the prospect of the growth of India-China relations and willing to cooperate closely with the Chinese side to implement the consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries and promote India-China relationship to a new height. |
